I used to work at that speed and lean off at all angles, but it's just knackering after an hour or two.
You can't keep it up for long.

Pointless really.

I thought he was annoying right at the end, cheering himself when he'd finished, like he was clever.

Stupid yes, clever no.

It just annoyed me.

why is it annoying are you jelous that you cant clean trad, this was common practice upto a couple of years ago and still is in some towns in fact i would say he is only average speed and i could keep that speed up all day.
better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to speak out and remove any doubt

Iv`e got to agree,i don`t think he`s annoying, but the topic title is right "a fool" is dead right,
that is an accident waiting to happen working at that height running up a ladder then leaning like that  :o
That`s a big NO NO !

it is a big no no now but that is the way all good window cleaners used to work, you can lean of a ladder as much as you want as long as you use your other leg as balaced it is very safe but not allowed now we all used to run up and down ladders two rungs at a time, some of the old tricks to stop ladders slipping would be considered not safe now but they worked and often better than the devices they sell now, more often than not the people who have accidents on ladders are people who dont know how to use them or lack experience.
these are just my thoughts based on 25yrs experience and being taught by someone with 50 yrs experience i do understand that wfp is definately safer and if you do fall from height it can be very nasty but when wfp wasnt about then this was common practice and these ones whernt called stupid but called skilled at their job.

Spot on.

I'd be a bit wary doing that now, but at the time it was nothing.
Never had a scare, never had a moment.

You get out of practice though.
I used a customer's ladder to put a downpipe back in that I had knocked out with my pole.
Simple straight climb, but it felt horrible after 18 months on the ground!

Well, I dunno know, but you wouldnt catch me going 30' up a ladder with NO safety device at all at the bottom.

The way I saw it he's an accident waiting to happen, if it hasn't since, too full of himself for his own good.
