has anyone tried painting their fibre glass poles with fibre glass resin or anything else to prolong the life of them when they start slipping and the clamp is at its limit  ???

I posed a similar question a while ago and was recommended to use engine lacquer from an auto-parts shop.
I've not had a chance to  try it yet but it apparently works really well. Perhaps those who've tried it will post their views.

Just give the worn sections are a couple coats of lacquer but allow sufficient time between coats for it to dry properly.

From time to time I spray mine with a hard lacquor as much to stop g/f splinters as prolonging their life.
Trimming the odd couple of inches off helps too.
I have a g/f pole that is 4 years old and still in daily use. It started as a 24ft pole but is now 18 ft. Lightweight and very usable for standard properties.

I don't buy new poles any more, I just keep rebuilding the old ones with bits from Varitech. Its always the first two sections that wear and split so I keep spare sections.
