tank lid
« on: October 12, 2008, 06:06:21 pm »
hi
just ordered a 500 ltr flat tank from gardiners, the lid looks different , with what appears to be a red insert of somekind, what is it ? and does it provide venting as the lid on my 250 upright does.

As far as I know we can all the parts separately for these tanks.  I'll have a look tomorrow and let you know.

I just use a length of 1/4" plastic pipe (the type RO-man use on their systems). I drill a 1/4" hole in the lid and force fit the pipe into it. (The plastic of the lid will tend to close up the hole a little so the pipe fits tightly)  If you allow about a foot of pipe, the water will not squirt out (it never has on any of our set-ups, anyway :P) but the air can get in so the tank doesn't collapse as you draw water from it.
