Is there anything you can do when the top section of your pole wears too thin for the clamps to get a grip on it?

We've got a 24' GF Ionics pole and I've adjusted the clamps right up until there is no gap and still the pole spins freely.

this is what i did and it seems o.k,,,,,,,,take angle addapter off and then cut away the screw part that the addapter goes on you will have to cut the top part of the pole down about  4-5 inches,this seems to be where most of the wear is ,then get some strong glue and pop the screw bit back in the top and bobs your uncle,.it takes time but  it,s better then wasting a good pole..hope this helps....kev

buy some areldite.... thinly spread it around the affected area, then use wet and dry sandpaper to smooth it down, i have done it twice now.... works a treat.

fibre glass/resin maybe, thats what I will be trying next

give your pole a couple of spray coats of engine laqure which you can get from any motor spares shop really hard wearing , this will prevent your pole spining .

If the pole is spinning because your pole is worn, and you are sure it isn't a worn clamp, a temporary solution is: put some tape over the worn part and your clamp will stop on before it hits the worn part, and should clamp ok!

It's the whole length of the pole, so it may well be the clamp and not the pole that's the problem.

I'll take it apart tomorrow and have another look at it.

Cut a bit off the cheeks of the clamp so it closes down further.

Same as Daveshaw.......Spray the entire length of worn pole with a few coats of engine lacquer paint or file the gap on the pole clamp with a needle file allowing it to tighten even further on the pole.

if its a universal clamp, sand down the space that the lever pulls together so basically the clamp can get tighter, will get a you a few more months out of it providing there is enough thread on the bolt that goes through this part.
