I have a job tomorrow scrubbing green algae from the walls of a house. Apparentley it's washed lime watever that is it's a very old converted school. She's been told not to jet wash it but to scrub it with a mild detergent. I said i'd give it a go, but with what i'm not sure. I'm going to jet a floor brush tonight for extra scrubbing power. Might try hooking up to a tap or maybe my pure. Anyone else tried this?

I havn't but have been ask to do different things, including paint and decorating believe it or not, but I try to stick to windows. I know what to expect and what to charge, and how long it will take me more importantly.

I believe Vikan does a brickwork brush, no idea where to buy it though.

I've done this. If you have a local farmers supply, go in and ask for a dairy steriliser called "Chloras", or any chlorine based steriliser. Its normally VERY cheap, I pay about €16 for 5 gallons. (If you're really stuck, bleach will do the same job)

Wear waterproofs and goggles,.. it will bleach clothes and is very sore if you get it in your eyes, even diluted.
Dilute 5:1 and apply to the wall with a backpack sprayer.

Stand back and watch,... no scrubbing at all!!!

Once the green is gone, give the wall a hose down with tap water to remove the residue.

Job done!

I have done alot of decorating, i did it on a day thats forecast for rain!! Last job i did looking out at snow blizzard:) and got good money, just got to pick the right job! Nice walls that just want painting, can do it in no time

Well, cleaned it this morning and although it was 80% better it wasn't perfect. I just used the stiff brush and pure. Even tried some tfr and diluted bleach on some tucked away corners but it hardly made any difference. She's very concerned about using the right product so i mentioned the Dairy mould killer and she will phone the limewash manufacturer to find out more - so i could be back yet to apply the solution. Ah well, more money.
