Do you find the pump cycles on and off when you adjust the flow down to suit your needs with a tap?

Does this matter if it does?

I was advised to fit a pressure tank in order to make the flow steady and stop the pump cycling constantly, I was wondering whether the 100m of 8mm hose would even the flow out enough?

Sounds like you need to adjust the pressure switch setting on your pump.

My own experience with this was not a happy one.

I tried using a tap to control the water flow. This made the pump cycle on and off at a very high frequency - maybe two or times a second. Because a pump takes a very high current when first switched on this blew the fuse. It happened several times (I'm a slow learner.)

I know that others will tell you differently, but I'd say use a pump controller and use the valve as a stop valve, not as a flow control valve.

I certainly wouldn't fit a pressure tank. That is over-complicating matters.

A resin vessel can act as a pressure regulating vessel.  This does sometimes mean the pump does not switch off as quickly but can help to even out the flow.

I prefer Flojet pumps over Shurflo. Too much hassle with Shureflo. Flojet may be noisy but I can live with that

Mine used to cycle when i used tricloflex and a flow control valve.

When i changed to minibore i only used the flow control valve as an on off and no more cycling.

I use my water on full flow all the time and it for me is a perfect setup.

Have you got a massive tank then? To use it at full flow, surely you get through loadsa water.

I use shurflo backpack at the mo, and i only use setting one, about 1lpm!!!!

No you wouldn`t,with a flo valve you can adjust the amount of water you want at the brush with the valve.You might turn it right up on the pump but not on the valve.
