Yell.com
« on: July 18, 2008, 09:16:02 am »
Got a call from Yel.com the other day and have decided to place an ad with them. The ad I have gone for is the top one on the right of the screen that is in a blue box.

This will show my ad every time someone looks for a window cleaner in my City,

the one's below are on a random basis, so I thought about it and  now going for it. The large blue box on the left side has been taken by a largre company already, They have first refussel every time but I don't think they will every give it up... So really no other choice to be at the top in a smaller box.

The cost of this is £116.00 a mth for 10 mth.
I know it my sound a lot but if I only get one contract from it
it will pay for its self.

My web page will be linked to it aswell....

Have a look and let me know your thoughts please.....

I'm in yell.com (paid) and it dosnt work for me. From what I have seen on this site it all depends on where you live as to whether it works or not. Last year there were loads of window cleaners on there and now this year, my 1st year with them, there is only 3 including myself. Yet I still get no calls from it.
I didnt know about a big blue box advert which shows all the time so hopefully you will get someting from it if only one good contract, you are certainly paying for it. If it dosnt work then you can at least claim it back on Tax.
Let us know how you are getting on with it.

click on to Yell.com and look for window cleaner in your nearest town and you will see 2 light blue boxes at the top off the screen, 1 large and 1 small...

Nothing really stands out and I am at the top of the listing of 3 this month.
I'll keep my eye on this thread and would be interested in your results, if you would be so kind to share them.

its all a gamble, business is about making the right decisions at the right time so only time will tell.

But i think if you did it for say 5 years it would pay for it self some years may be slow but overs may boom........good luck!

i have a yell.com priorty advert but cause of were i live i had to pay for three areas to cover were i work, got one builders clean which paid for it but it hasnt set any records.

Why not the free listing. I pick up a house evry 3 weeks or so. 15 yrs ago I picked up loads of ongoing commercial work from 4 phone calls to a free listing in yellow pages.

I have tried to make it a bit bigger but can't as yet, I will contact the company and see what they can do..
