if I run the water to the tank from ro to di to tank and then it stays there until its used
now if I run it at 000 ppm through the di again will it still use up the life of the resin.

no, it will not use the life of the resin, as all the work is done

Always handy to have a DI vessel in the van just in case you run out of water and need to top up from a customers house to finish a clean :)
