I have a porty and it has a built in heater, but there is no temp control it's all or nothing.

The powrflite website says it produces 170 - 200 degree temp, would it be damaging to use this heat on a wool carpet?

Not enough temp. to affect fitted carpets , but turn it of on those oriental rugs!

Even a high end T/M with heat to spare should not cause any fibre damage with heat.

But some lower end yarns may burst the twist more easily, but this is likely to happen at lower temperatures too. Just do your tests.

Heat could damage the protector on some yarns.
