Commercial Work - first foray into the unkown!
« on: June 14, 2008, 03:00:04 pm »
Hi guys,

If you've read my posts (I hope some of you have!) then you'll know I'm coming into this as green as a very green thing!

Short background: I've got some good contacts with pubs/shops and individual stores which are part of 'Nationals'.

Although they know me, its not with window cleaning. So I intend to kill two birds with one stone. Firstly, introduce myself and secondly, find out the 'lie of the land' so to speak.

I'm looking to print off some very basic questionnaires which should hopefully answer my questions and also leave them with that all important 'first impression' without trying to lock them down there and then....but if that happens, all well and good!

The whole point of this project is more market research as apposed to direct canvassing.

Heres the list of questions I have at the moment. Can anybody think of any more?

1. Name, address, type of business

2. Size (how many windows and total sq mtr)

3. what are you paying right now

4. Are you under contract? If so, when is it up for tender?

5. Are you happy with your current supplier?

6. Any special conditions? (can/cannot be cleaned between certain hours)

7. Frequency of your current clean?

8. Inside - how often?

9. Outside - how often?

10. What method is used? (wfp, trad)

11. How many floors? (how high is it?)

12. Parking/access restrictions?

13. Security (locked gates/roller shutters/ site restrictions/security clearance...as in shopping centres?)

14. Payment method

15. How many days credit do you work on?

16. What can we do to improve the service?

17. Which level awards the contract? (Head office or store manager/owner?)

18. Do we require 'Recognised Supplier' status from Head office before submitting a quote? (I know some companies ask for this).

.....Any more??

hi
I would re-pharse question 16 to
what do you feel would improve your current service

if you could get someone who knows the answers to fill it in, you will be doing well.
Good luck.

Cheers Tony, that does sound much better.

I should probably add -

This questionnaire wont be posted or given to the store, It will be a list of questions I will ask 'face to face' at an informal chat with the owner/manager. So hopefully, the conversation will develop organically as it progresses, while I just tick boxes and write basic information down to ensure  I'm covering all the points I want to cover and getting answers to questions I want/need.

Yeah, good luck. I haven't tried this approach or anything like it and would be interested to know how it works out.
