hi all,

after you have clean,sand,and seal a driveway and you are asked my the customer how long will it last.

what do you all say to them?

6 months   im putting people off sealing as it does not last for the outlay involved!  clean and sand is as good as anything.

Its not an exact science and each one is different depending on a variety of conditions. regular maintenance will still be required but I would be suprised if you didnt get a couple of years out of it (i only use keybond, not acrylics).

If you get a weed coming up within 2 years I will come and pick it out with my teeth , When cleaning block paving I try to suck up as much of the sand as possible and replace . then seal with daft amounts of sealant ensuring there is no weed grow back   ,  then advice regular maintenance ,  ie   me coming back to clean

on a previous thread I feel I got slated for trying  to do this sort of work well , but over priced

Wat sealer do you use john?I haven`t done any sealing yet,bit nervous about it with just starting this year,cleaning hasn`t stopped though,chocka blok

Dan been using techcleans for about the last 2 years  I find it good stuff but you need to put plenty down

dandandan, are you just in this field part time? are you retired? or do you have add on business for the winter months when there is no work?

I had mobile phone dvd shops x2 but when the arse fell out of that game i changed them to beauticians for the wife 4 years ago,they do ok but i can`t get too involved in that game so i am basically the odd job man  looking after the accounts and maintenance etc which means i have plenty of spare time,i started this because i cleaned my drive one day and just thought i could make some cash out of this as its something people hate doing,plus i can pick when i want to work and fit it round looking after the shops etc,i started up with the help of this site and merrill fox and have done a van set up,i haven`t stopped and i love it,i have the shops as my safety net and will live off them when the cleaning dies in the winter,i might  learn amtico floor cleaning for the winter,to be honest i think i`ll be happy for the rest as this manual labour has got me done in,beats the gym,ha ha,i`m only 42 by the way,had clothes shop from the age of 19 then went into vdeo,then dvd then playstaion mobile phone accessories etc,probably be onto something else in 5 years but you don`t grumble you adapt and move on.

Yes i love it,just cleaning and sanding for now and i`ve got the telescopic lance for the fascia boards,going to try back to blacking tarmac drives if the cleaning drops off,staying away from sealing i think,been asked to do it but i`ve put them off till i gain experience,catch up with you soon,dan

nice one guys, yes i just do anything in the winter, any pressurre washing work and i help my mate landscaping. if we have a bad winter there will be no pressure washing to do. its a good idea to have a few jobs.
