Water Ban in April 2008
« on: February 10, 2008, 10:21:55 pm »
Hi.  we heard on the grapevine  that there will be a national water ban from April because of the water shortage last year and that this will affect WFP users.  We have only just gone over to the system 6 months ago and love it.  We obviously if needs must, would have to go back to scaling the ladders but are considering investing in a van because the trailer is a little annoying for access, but are cautious about sinking in more money if we cannot use the system.

Does anyone have any useful information about this?  Is it just talk?  Does it only affect domestic users?  Anyone know?

Thanks
The New WFP'ers.

Where do you operate from, the "Gobi Desert" because in England last year we had the most rain fall ever on record.

Even the school run was carried out by an Ocean Liner. ;D

Yea precisely. Last year we didn't have a water shortage whatsoever. Not in the slightest.

hi

Phone your local water board, they will tell you the rules.
As far as i'm aware, if you are a registered business they will find it almost impossible to impose a ban on you as they can't restrict a persons right to earn a living.

During the last ban I complained about not being allowed to hose down my muddy 4x4 after an off road play day. The clearly in formed me that if i was a business and on a water meter i wasn't affected by the ban.

Please note though you must be on a water meter and your business must be registered to the address you make your water at.

But like i said phone your local water supplier they will be able to tell you the facts. then you won't have to worry about all the scare mungering that goes on.

I don't think it will apply to the whole of the UK only certain areas, those areas that will be effected I would say yes get yourself registered as a business customer.

If this is true then on behalf of all members can I ask why the FED and AWPC are not giving advise about this!!!!

I believe there is a rule a water ban does not affect any buisness use, only those who use water for pleasure, like swimming pools, car washing and watering the garden.
Please check this out as this is what i was told in my region last year.

if they put on a ban I will not be going on a ladder, if they pull me for it I will take it to court as they will be indangering my life making my climb a ladder (hse on ladder use 2005).

I have a chat with director of water company in regards to this after a G vine show on wfp, they first stop domestic customers using hoses using pressure washers etc(not commercial) we are commercial as we are a business) second step is commercial and there is a third step but I forget what that is.

they said  we would only stop you using it if need be , domestic bans normally stop the problem but if people needed the water to drink then a commercial ban would be imposed.

the roamer normally starts from a trad cleaner (them getting there own back on the ladder ban thing)

more scare mongering ;D
I was told the government were the only people who can stop you working and that's only in a phase 2 drought when you are queing up in the street with bucket for your daily water supply.

Well, it is May now. Haven't heard any stories of people being stopped from using water, so I suppose we are all ok for now!  ;D
