Best Machine
« on: April 27, 2008, 09:17:05 pm »
Hello all you sages of carpet cleaning, Ive been  contract window cleaning for a number of years and some of my customers started asking if I knew any good carpet cleaners, so being clever I invested in a reconditioned sensei from ashbys in kent, its been ok, but now it is time for an upgrade. First thing I will do is purchase a steam gun for chewing gum and stain removal, but I dont have a clue what machine to upgrade to for office carpet cleaning. Any ideas?

Mike.

My money goes on a Scorpion with 75 ft of 2" hose, what more do you want?

Mike,

I see you are in Kent somewhere. If you want to give me a call I might be able to advise. (alternatively you can just sub it to me ;D

Seriously though, I'm happy to help.

Most offices have carpet tiles I would go for a LM system and keep the sensei for other jobs. (Or sub it me very local  ;D

Ooops!
Missed you mostly clean carpets in offices.
Yep, to some extent agree with the others - as you have a water extraction machine then go for a rotary for the office cleaning that have low profil tiles. Fairly cheap to buy 2nd hand too.

I really appreciate all your words of wisdom, interestingly they have carpets, but no tiles. The big pain in the neck is the multitude of desks chairs and other stuff, so if the rotary comes with hoses as well then it sounds ideal.

Rotary's don't need hoses and the desks are sort of irrelevant as you never move them. Your PL insurance won't cover you for it as there will be an IT network running through each desk and you are not insured to touch these.

Greif Ive just noticed the rotary wand is £1700+vat, forget about that. But the machine is £1200+vat.
I know it is an entry level machine.

Reachwash,
you seen the buffing machines in the shops polishing floors. Long handle, head on the floor about 20" where a polishing pad rotates.
same principle used for the rotary carpet cleaning but at a lower rpm, typically 150-230rpm max.
generally speaking, a pad goes on the bottom of machine that is then passed over the carpet, obviously water is in the process as is cleaning fluids.
the pad picks up the dirt from the carpet.

some refer to it as a "muck spreader" cause to some extent, whilst some soil in the carpet is lifted to the pad, some is transferred from one area of carpet to another.
sounds not good but the results can be very effective.

Good if the area is busy and needs to be back in service quick.

You could also try an envirodri or host. Rapid drying times and very easy to use

The little Oreck is too small, but there is a 15 " O/P machine which uses 21" pads and with the right product will give excellent results.
