Have I killed it?
« on: April 11, 2008, 05:22:44 pm »
Hi folks.  Just emptied the last 7 lts out of my tank into a garden bosh as I want to remove the tank from my van tomorrow.  Had it pumping away into the bosh and went in to get a cuppa.  HAd a quick bounce on the nippers trampoline (as you do)  and nearly broke my back.   Suddenly realised I had left the water pumping.   Arse.
Hobbled to the van and the tank was empty so the pump had been running dry.   The pump itself was hot , not red hot but hotter than  it has been before.   I'm not sure how long it had been running dry but now I'm worried that I have killed it or knackered it.  Its only a couple of months old too.

I did pump some cold water thro it after it and it pumped ok but what do you people think?
Veni, vidi, vino, splatus.

 (I came, I saw, I drank, I fell over...)

It should have said 70 lts not 7.
I dont plan on doing it too often but was worried that I had cooked it.

if you had burnt it out it would not pump, your lucky 1 not to break your back and 2 not to wreck your pump ;)

lesson here is turn pump off before playing and make sure your insured for accidents ;D

Thanks for the replies and concerns chaps. :D

The sprogs wanted dad to show them how to do flips and summersaults etc so I couldn't say no could I? ( thats what I told the wife lol)
Well, the embarrassing truth is that the kids were indoors at the time and I thought I would have a go on my own, ;D ;D
