Hi guys,

Hows things (professionally) I haven't posted in a while so I thought I'd say hello. I've been really busy lately and doing really well, although in January I had a mechanical problem with my car which broke three times in a row. Broke, took to the garage, broke again, picked it up, broke again. In the end I had to borrow money to buy a van but the not having a vehicle for three weeks part nearly sent me over the edge and I nearly jacked it in.

Has anybody got any advice on the APWC, I wouldn't mind joining them now.

Luke has it really been that long since I posted. Yeah it has, I just thought my last post was about my new backpack I just bought, which is now well worn in. I have the tank I bought fitted in my van now. Wow how things have changed since last time I was on here now. Last time I was here I couldn't find work for love nor money, now I get a phone call or email a day on average. Not going to mention my earning or tosh will have me.

Dont it just get ya down when your motor just wont work. You can have the best looking van/car looks the business but if it dont work then its a heap of junk.

I do but its only local work, normally the houses that nobody canvases coz nobody wants them.

Hi Dave!

I get the odd phone call now and then from the yellow pages. Mostly domestic work, nothing amazing. The houses I get phones calls from tend to be in funny places that you wouldn't think of canvassing. Annoys me that about 6 new companies have put bigger adds than me in this year. If the sales rep for yellow pages had told me that before hand I would have either gone for the same advert as them or non at all.

i doubt the sales people know what people have orderd they just want to get your money because i belives its comisson based

Hey mate Glad to hear you're doing well You all switched over the van mount? What area are you working, did you have to go further afield in the end?

Hi sheepmeister,

I didn't have to go further away in the end. I just got a bit of training from a few of my friends who run other types of cleaning businesses so if I have a quiet day I phone them and get a bit of other work. Yesterday I stripped and sealed a floor, I've done a few house clearances and stuff. I have done a few oven cleans also, I do some jet washing also. My van mount isn't anything great at the moment. ( It would be if cleantech had returned my calls last week!?!) Anyway a friend of mine bought a trailer from brodex with a load of new poles so I bought his old system off him and bolted them in my van. I'll get a new system before the summer as I have a lot of big jobs coming in then.

And Dave. What you were saying about yellow pages mate. If you go in there you instantly start getting phone calls from people that you have never spoken to before saying. "Hi, remember when we spoke last. The booklets are ready now, so just let me know what schools in the area you would like them to go to?" My answer to that question is always " Good bye." Also mate I have about eight houses in Stanley avenue in Bebington that I haven't been to in months and can't really get to them anymore as they are well out of my way most of the time. If you want to mate get canvassing, tell them you have bought work from me and if they phone me I will tell them that its true. They are all detatched houses but I under priced them when I first started and they refuse to let me re-quote so if your interested get up there with a few leaflets.

I know mate i went in it for a year when i first set up myself and didnt really get anything from it. and the od calls i did get were from places in like chester    were it was just one house so it really wasnt worth the bother.

Sounds like youre doing well  Sorry I couldnt pass any work your way, just decided it was worth keeping on. Well the oven cleaning and pressure washing sound good..... keeps things interesting, or, well... different Need to branch out myself, the windows are great, just not getting the take up of new work at the moment.
