any quality protector will do the job, check them for colour fastness and protect away.

I'd use my electric sprayer, put plenty on, then wipe down the woodwork.

Cleaned these stools using one step, then extraction, with hottish water, but has left faint lines across the material, that just about shows up on a photo. cleaned again, with lower vac power, incase drawing dirt up through padding, but they still remain. previously has been cleaned by a member of the public, so lots of suds to extract. any ideas?

if cleaned by member of public then they probably used supermarket brand. sounds like it may need a lot of rinsing and vac. are the line there when they are still damp?. they might fade out when dry

Gary You will find that the lines will dissapear when it dries :)
Like Mike says most protectors will do. Usually pubs dont bother to pay out for protector.

The first one I cleaned as a sample was brand new, but these lines remain, on the next stools even when dry.

Gary

Looking at the photo and playing around with the colour I see what you mean it occurs to me that the red backing fabric sometimes has a faint pattern..................whatever the case, the result looks absulutely fine for bar stools, particularly considering their history.

Damn it

on looking again I can see a very thin line on the dark stripe, dead centre, but it's not soiling and it's not colour run, so ignore it,

Paul,
the top picture has the lines on it, running 90 degrees to the fabric lines. 1 at the top left corner and a couple at the bottom right. It is hard to take a picture of, but i extracted top to bottom as photographed, and thought it might be my tecknique. it has been drying for around 10 hours. It is frustrating cos you can only see them when it is fully dry, hours later.

I can just about make them out. I would say it is the fabric backing weave or the lining/cushion under neath. Did you give an acidic rinse on extraction?

its a woven fabric so if you could see the reverse the little symbols you see are proberly all connected horizontally underneath similar to a wilton, this may well have been slightly noticeable when new or has become noticeable since you cleaned? If it has there is not much that can be done, get all the dirt out you can and leave it neutral.

I just used water as a rinse, cos I was going to protect the stools when dry.  Should I use an acid rinse, or will it leave a residue? The water up here IS slightly acidic.

An acidic rince would be more benificial as the fibre looks predominantly cotton, and it would also help for protection application.
