Professional leaflet drops
« on: January 01, 2008, 03:59:00 pm »
Has anyone got any experience of having professional leaflet drops done?

How do you find a company that does it?

What are the results like, and what is the cost on average?

Thanks

Try a Google for "Leaflet distribution".

I know lots of people use them, but it always worries me that (a) the leaflets will finish up in the nearest bin, or (b) the majority will be delivered into undesirable destinations (sink estates, council high rises etc)

Get royal mail to do it. Then you can pick the postcodes and the postie is obligated to deliver to the right addresses.

I can't get my postman to delivery my mail let alone leaflets.

I have done a good bit using leafleting co's and the results have been very mixed, I am reluctant to say that it was a complete waste of time as it really depends on the quality of the staff of the co and the supervision.

I no longer use them I prefer to organise my own drops, however there was one co. who only operated in a particular area that used gps tracking on the delivery backs that I had great success with for a time.

Putting the leaflet in the free local newspapers are often a good way of getting them out there and they seem to charge about the same price over here as the leafleting co's but the message can get lost in the paper.

If you do decide to go down the route of a distribution co then try door hangers (like you would put out for your breakfast in a hotel) that way you can drive around an area and see if they have gone out or not.

oh and never pay up front and always only pay 80% because that is about the best any of them can do.

For a different business venture we paid a lot of money to have a leaflet delivered with every freebie newspaper in Harrow and the surrounding area. It wasn't my idea and I had my doubts before we did it.
It was a complete failure. We have no way of knowing whether the leaflets went out because it is left to the individual distributers to put them inside the papers.
Anyway, the business venture failed to get off the ground so we never tried again.

However, one of the regulars on the carpet cleaning forum has used that same method for delivering his leaflets for years with great sucess. It just goes to show.

If I was to do it again I would deliver them myself. That way you can pick the houses you want to deliver to .

Thanks John

Trouble is I have gotten to  a stage where Im too  busy for me but i need more work before I employ. I find after a days slog, getting the motivation to go delivering leaflets and canvassing is sadly lacking especially in this weather.

I guess there are no short cuts?

Why not post some in the street that you are working in , when you have finished your last job in a street spend 20 mins or so leafleting that street

Good plan

I was just talking with the misses about the very same subject. I was thinking leaflet one or two streets on my round every day. If I get rained off, go and do some knocking at the houses I have put flyers in. If I get a spare day (ha ha) go and canvass for some of the day.

3-5 new customers a week or 20 a month should be flying!

+ If you canvas the street you are in your round becomes more compact
