im in the market for a new van could any 1 throw any light on a good 1 lookin at a vw caddy or kangoo both have 800 kl pay load but unsure about power of engines only 70 bhp they dont seem 2 be up 2 the job of carrying 500 ltr of water and havin enough oomph 2 move it any info would be helpful or reconmending another van of equal sizemany thanks

I have a Vauxhall Combo and regulary carry around 300 - 400 litres of water, it's of a similar size to the two you mention, if not a bit larger.

It's a standard 1.7d, however it does take a while to get up steep hills with all the water onboard, if you live in an area without many hills then I wouldn't hestitate to recommend it - cheaper parts and servicing too.

i have a pug partner, and i carry 500 litres in it. 1.9 diesel, no prob.

although...i am looking for something a little bigger now. maybe go for someting like a pug expert or bigger?

just my 2 pence worth, my back is full of stuff, not much room for owt else, and i have poles coming through into the cab...

Go for a medium size van from day 1 if i were you,trafic vivaro type van is perfect.

Never try and run a van to it's max weight everyday. Just because it says 700Kg payload doesn't mean you can do that day in day out, as a one off maybe.

I would say be careful of the big vans. Too big and its very hard to get parked. Thats a big problem round here. I had a hired Sprinter last week and it was useless.

iv'e got a new shape combo as above, but from day one i wish i had got a vivaro, more space, better payload etc etc

i agree, ive got a combo with a 250 tank its great van but, not much room with all the equiptment, id go for the med size van like that vivaro from the start,

Problem with the smaller vans like mine is i can only safely carry my 375 litre tank, whens its full you know it, i would never go over that weight its too dangerous, if you do a reasonable amount of wfp go bigger.. :

You want a van that carrys weight so you don`t even know you have it in the back,with a small van if you do a lot of driving like i do it`s hopeless and to be honest i reckon it adds years to of the vans age being small carrying all that weight,i`ve said it before ignore the payload it means nothing to how the van will drive with half a ton in the back it just means that legally you can carry that weight,trust me when i say get a vivaro-trafic type van there the perfect van for WFP.

The new Scudo has a 1000 - 1200 KG payload depending on the model, and is still fairly compact and easy to park. My dad just got the 90BHP one,.. and he loves it,.. but he had an old non-turbo 1999 scudo which drove like the handbrake was permanently on. The new one is a lot more responsive to drive, but my choice would still be the 120BHP model.

im a newbie to this just doing home work by gartering as much info as possible i think it would be best to go larger i got myself a swb sprinter the old 208 as a hobby can handle the weight of system planed + extra space and still easy to park i agree with the comments on the small vans i ran a few as a courier with a constant weight would def add to the service bills and fuel would drop big time as well
+ big van gives scope to expand system big sigh righting ect theres a lot to consider the fuel on my 208 is better than when i had my vectra estate 2.6 24 valve v6 probley arounfd the 30+ mark
