in the picture below this pump has developed a tiny leak on the join between the aluminium/metal and the plastic. can this be mended? would it be just a rubber o ring?

Order another and send it back for repair.

The diaphragm will have split. You can either order a replacement part and fit it yourself (quite fiddly) or send the pump back to the manufacturers and they will repair it for you for about £30 + carriage. As Jeff has stated, it is a good idea to have a spare pump always so before you send your old one off, buy a new one and fit it and then you can carry on working while you have your spare one repaired.

i have got a spare, it really isn't leaking very much at all, and its been a good old pump, how hard is it to fit? or do you recomend getting done by flojet? also how long would it take once sent off? knowing my luck the spare will fail while this baby is being fixed

They usually supply the replacement diaphragms with a full fitting instruction sheet. If you're fairly handy, then it really isn't a problem to replace and will only take you about 20 minutes and it's a lot cheaper than letting them do it. Give them a ring on 01664 567226.
