Hi ,

i have my RO systen in the van, connect to a hose pipe late at night, and fill my tank via the RO

i HAVE TO TIME IT RIGHT SO I CAN JUST CATCH IT IN THE MORNING BEFORE IT OVERFLOWS oops!

since its only a thin blue pipe into the tank,

how do you guys stop the water before it overflows?

all I do is flick a switch and the water starts to fill, it is built in to one of my flow controllers for the pumps. When it is full it cuts out, in the top of the tank there is a wire into tank when it hits that level it cuts it off.

I've just been told by my RO suppliers it's a big no no to use ball cocks,etc. to stop the RO supply.  It will cause damage to the membrane.
Far better to use a shut off to the mains supply like a timer.

My system has a ball cock supplied from gardiners and thatseems to do the job.  Not sure about it damaging anything tho

You can use a ball valve in the tank but this must be paired with an auto shut off unit that you fit to the RO Unit.  You can get these from RO Man for about £10.  How they work is when the pressure increases on the output line, it pushes across a membrane inside the Unit which closes the flow on the input side of the RO Unit.

One point to bear in mind when fitting a flow valve to your tank is that it will restrict the amount of water your tank will store due to the space that the mechanism takes up at the top of the tank.  RO Man do a  compact shut off valve which will only waste about 2-3 inches of the top of your tank.
