me and my biz partener have parted company

Ive allways worked with some1

As a carpenter, ive allways had a workmate, either a apprentise or a fellow carpenter

i packed carpentry in to work part time as a window cleaner, i look after my daughter 3 days, work 3 days)

i worked my my mother in laws partener as a window cleaner, well mothing in laws being what they are, it could only end in tears

i run the biz, did everything, all the paperwork etc etc

so now we have split the work up and im on my lonesome

what do you guys do if you work on your own, dont you find it dull and boring

ive just brought a 512 Meg MP3 player, so will load a stack on musinc onto that (converting MP3's to WMA, so i get double the songs), will this be enough to keep me sane???????

Hi Matt

Strange, isn't it. For years there's been me and two guys and we either all work at the same site or 2+1 - they'll get dropped off and do the work which is close together, while I use the motor to get the stuff that's scattered about. So I'm working by myself for most of the time, but know that other stuff is still being worked on. On the rare occasion that i am actually working by myself, say one bloke's on holiday and it just so happens that the other one is off for some reason, I find myself slowing down and looking for excuses to quit early.

BUT a couple of times when I've been having a complete change-over in staff, and I know that I've just got to get stuck in about it, I get through half the work, not a third, all by myself, on my ownsome.

Strange, isn't it.

You're a Scottish window-cleaner? Licensed or not, get yourself along to www.slwcn.org right now !

well my first day on my own :)

i started at 9.15 (had a few things to sort out this morning, Water and battery and load the motor and such)

anyways, started at 9.15, stopped for lunch at 12, 3 big-ish houses done (60 quid in the pocket)

had about 20 mins for lunch

at about 2 i got bored and started to look at going home, it was getting dark blah blah blah

THEN SOMETHING REMINDED ME, i was in work to earn money to spend on my 20month old daughter, so enough said, i cracked on :)

home by 4 ish

total earning = 135 quid

not a bad day indeed

tomorrow i have a 7 start, some comercail to do, so will earn a little more :)

Hi Matt,
i work on my own here in Spain, great time of the year right now as its cooled down, anyway, I got myself a small radio and carry it in a winsol drinks holder on my belt, where I go my music goes, channel hopping all day, but keeps me company, this is radio number two, the first one dropped in my bucket 4 time2, and eventually died on me after being dried out 4 times, so thats why a smaller radio was bought. Dont think wearing headphones all day would be a good thing. with your mp3
