Stick at it the first few months are usually the hardest trying to get a customer base after a while if you are doing a good job customers will start to recommend you and getting seen more often in an area potential customers start to see an element of trust in you
Just an idea why not offer current customers some discount if they get regular jobs for you let them do some canvassing for you like their freinds and family
It will suddenly all come together after a while if you keep at it
Chin up mate their are customers out there
And remember to price well for your jobs that way you get to your target figures quicker and with quality work that doesnt get you down

its probably too early to be getting referals just yet , but as you go on that will certainly change if you keep at it .

also keep some of them for saturday mornings ( even in roads that you have leafleted ) never fails
especially if you have plans for the afternoon !!

IMHO...as far as leaflets are concerned....you'll need to put out loads....

Best bet is to put the leaflets out and a couple of days later...go out and canvass...

Don't get disheartend......it is very much a drip, drip game.....

Sorry to teach you to suck eggs.... I am only about year ahead of you..... and am starting to see more and more referals.......

Releaflet the area's in about 3 months and then releaflet and canvass in the spring...keep lists of each area\street you do and who said yes and no or maybe....repitition is the name of the game....and when you have a few in a street...work on getting more in each street....truth is that I do not think that you'll ever stop building your 'round'.....just see it as you are planting crops....and every now and then you have to harvest, replant, throw....some a\c's.

Good luck and keep your chin up..

If you stay with it, one day you will look back and wonder what the problem was.  I found the first year tough and the second year a little less so.  The third year was when I felt I could start taking a little pride in what I had achieved.  Ironically, most of that work from the first three years is ancient history now.  Mostly my choice, sometimes their's.  It just seems funny that the work I was once so grateful for ended up becoming a liability.
