is this realy quicker with having to go through closes gardens etc  so say you done 75 houses out a hundred in a street how can this be quicker by the time you move the van on three houses stop move lenthy hose etc i dont get it ,,our is a trolley the answer ,our back pack  and how many say average three bed council house type houses will these last for ,also how much water will you need for a good days graft say  100 houses and how can you work it with two people  some one plz enlighten me  ?

It is faster even on terraced houses with gardens say 100ft long.  We mainly use hoses but if there is a house on it's own then we'll use the back pack, just for the odds and ends.  I find a back pack will last about 3 houses, thats the 8 smallish windows in total type house.  I know others will make it last longer but I like a higher flow rate.

Me and my Mrs do an estate that took us 1 and a 1/2 days, thats going from 9am to 3pm we get the whole lot done in the one day now.  Off the top of my head about 60 houses.

I think the time you loose on the backs you gain on the fronts.

It's definatley worth getting a back pack.

so say you have a run of five houses in a row then miss say six do two miss three  then ten in a row  would you do this all from the van our use back pack and how much time do u save over ladders mind you would jst walk between these in two min with ladders what im saying is there not a lot off ping about with wfp compared to ladders

You have to plan what you do, no 2 streets are alike.
I have one estate where I park at spot where without having to move the van I can  cover 8 houses on one side of the street ( I only do 4 of them, but could comfortable cover 8 possible 9 houses, and these aren't tiny council houses either, you'll be surprised just how far 100m of hose will go) and on the other side of the street there are yet again a similar number of houses, even though on this side I only do three of them.
And that is all without moving the van once.
Oh, and I've never had any problems with vehicles driving over the hose either.

But you have to plan out what you are doing.
Were it a council style estate, where there are 9 houses in the estate I do, there could easily be 12 that I could reach.
But once parked I'll walk to the furthest one and start at the window at the greatest distance away.
It does take some figuring out, but can be done.
If you were using a trolley system for instance, as you drive down the road, drop off a few water containers, then as you work up or down the street you don't have to keep traipsing all the way back to the van to top up.
You could also do something similar with a back pack too, in fact, done that  way a back pack could be very efficient indeed....and very quick!
A back pack can have big advantages over other systems when parking is a nightmare, or you are doing rows of terraces where access is also difficult for the rear of the houses.
you can drop off water containers where you know you will need a top up, go park up your vehicle, grab back pack and poles and off you go, hell, you could cover an awful lot of an estate in such a manner if you wanted too.

It's all about forward planning.

On the estate I'm thinking of.  It's all terraced so most places the fronts have to be done from a separate parking space to the backs.  I have places with 5 in a row then say 4 house gap and another 2 ect.

Ian is right 100mtrs goes a very long way.  But I only reel out what I need.  There are 2 of us and so generally one will be using the back pack to take out a few odd places and one person will be working off of the van taking out the 5 places in a row.  Other times because of so many houses in a short stretch opposite each other, we just use both reels.

We find on these estates we can do about 40% extra, but we always used to work together me up the ladder my wife on the ground, when you have 100ft of garden to contend with thats a big time wast.  No we work separately taking a house each, so we save a bit of time as only one of us is walking up the garden path of each house.

To be honest if you have a lot of this sort of work and tricky long gardens I think to back pack the backs as much as possible would be the best option.

I use to do some streets where all the house are terraced, but parking was difficult, I use to have about 30 houses on each street, on both sides, so a van mount system was out of the question, the same with a backpack and 50 litre trolley system.

What i got was a garden trolley which held 8 barrels x 25 litres of water, I fitted a hose and reel and pump and battery.

It was perfect, it use to take me 10 minutes to set up, then off I went down one side of the street cleaning, got to the end then crossed over and up the other side, arriving back at my van.
