New Website - Feedback Wanted
« on: October 18, 2007, 04:42:37 pm »
Hi Guys,

My nephew has just updated my site for me.

Please have a look and pass me your comments.

If you are interested in having a site done for you then please e-mail me and I will forward the information on to him straight away.

He did it cheaper for me- obviously!!!!

He works in the industry so he does know what's what!!!

Look forward to all comments

Many Thanks

Nice and bright and clear ;) although i think the Title at the top has been saved in jpeg form rather than gif (its slightly fuzzy)

I'm not saying this to be confrontational.

But it is truly awful and probably took 20 mins.

Sorry.

hi there

title needs to be redone,

and remove the extreme tracker icon, cause if you know what you are doing you can breal into the site IF YOU WANTED.

you asked for feedback
the sofa, too dated, replace with something with clean lines and sleek, take a pic of a showhome lounge of somrthing similar.

and i think you should rethink the yello blue colour theme, its not easy on the eye.

sorry, trying to be constructive

regards

martin

Make 3 pages out of the one front page - you already have the titles there.

Showing your email address opens you up to all sorts of rubbish being sent. There are ways to email you (a button) without showing address.

Just needs a bit of work thats all

You asked for feedback, I was doing you a favour by saying it was awful. A lot of people post their websites on here and ask for feedback and nine times out of ten I don't comment because I don't care!!

The topic has had a lot of views and not one person has said it looks fantastic well done, my guess is they all think it is rubbish and have kept there mouths shut.

Can I do better? Errr, yeah, I run another business which sells over 1000 products and runs on Actinic, Dreamweaver and Photoshop. Why would I show it to you and ask you for a review, you clearly don't have a clue.

Didn't mean to upset you, and neither did anyone else who took the time to comment, we are just trying to help you realise the site needs a complete revamp.

The most worrying thing that was in your post is the fact your nephew is 'in the industry'  :o :o  REALLY, what as, because I bet you a dollar to a dime he isn't a web designer.

Well, its alright.....at least its not one of those sites that gives you chapter-and-verse plus a whole page of T+C's that would put off any potential client.

It says what it wants to say. I think the name DUSTDEES nees to be bigger, plus i am not sure that the spacing on the telephone number is correct (it has been spaced as if it were a mobile number), plus there is the odd stray comma....

But.....its simple and it tells the story. I like it.

Dustees

You have to put it into perspective and for what you are offering and to gain a presence on the web I feel it does what it says on the tin. Like you said, you have to start somewhere and I'm sure as your business grows so will the way you advertise it.

The only thing that stuck out for me was at the top you have Domestic and Commercial Cleaning but no real reference to what Commercial services you provide !!

Dustdees,

Get rid of that tracker NOW. It's giving away loads of information about visitors to your site, the popularity of the site, how they found the site and what keywords they used. This could be used by your competitors and, as Martin says, could be used as a back door into your site.

As for the website, it's basic. That's not necessarily a bad point as it loads quickly and visitors can get all the information they need on one page. Personally, I don't like the colour scheme or the design, but that's a matter of taste. The important stuff - your contacts details - are nice and clear and stand out.

It won't put visitors off and it won't win any design prizes, but it does the job.

ALAN.
