having had my share of using a fog wash i gave up so i gave it to a pal to see how he could get on with it any way he came to see me the other day said he had cracked a glass patio door so i had a look to be fair the water was not hot by any means just over luke warm id say i just wonderd wot you guys who run hot wash what temp is required to avoid thermal shock

It is not so much the water temperature itself. A quick look at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thermal_shock

It is the thermal gradient that causes the problem Basically different parts of the glass surface heating or cooling at a different rate to other areas.

Most modern glass is treated to handle thermal shock via Annealing in the production process. As such washing with warm water should not be an issue. In this particular case it could be that the glass concerned was older and had a weakness and was going to go anyway.

Can't see why you couldn't get on with the fog wash had mine for a few years pretty simple to use. Don't have on really hot just Luke warm so it keeps the hoses nice and soft and stops the water freezing, can't see why you couldn't get on with it TBH !!!
