I'm only familiar with the Irish tax system,.. but there are lots of things you can claim for.
Diesel
Vehicle repairs
Workwear and boots
Meals when at work
even a percentage of you electricity and heating bill at home if you have a home office.

A tax advisor will save you more money than he will charge for his services,.. well worth a visit.
