Beige carpet again!
« on: October 17, 2004, 11:50:10 am »
I seem to be getting plagued with beige carpets recently, and i done a luxury apartement the other day...with a beige carpet...The traffic lane in the hallway was pretty bad, and was practicaly black in places, down to the backing...I presprayed quite liberaly in these areas, and agitated, as you do..and used fibre & fabric rinse as a final treatment....the results wernt amazing, and i reset the pile, so that the remainder coulnt be seen that easily..there was still darkness visable, and i'm not happy with the results, even though the customer was very pleased....does anyone know how , or using what, i could have completely removed the offending residual darkness?

Hi Scott,

I cannot comment on a specific carpet, being unaware of either the problems with the carpet or the extent of cleaning applied to it, but have posted some general comments on traffic lanes on another forum that may be of interest to you.

To add to John's reply, you must also wait for the carpet to be totally dry before making a judgement. Quite often when you have wet the backing as you've described, light will be absorbed rather than reflected, and make the area look dirtier until dry.

Safe and happy cleaning :)
