Hi All,

Are there many of you out there that lease their van. What are the pros and cons, costs, good companies etc. Also are ther any  WFP companies that do lease hire . My van needs a new engine and the cheapest that i have come across is £2000 plus cost of work done so far.

I own outright my setup and van.

Try and buy outright and work your way up to a new van.

If you can find a cheap enough van that needs a little tidy up buy it and give it a good t-cut, a touch up here and there maybe a new set of wheel trims then punt it for more than you paid for it. Then work your way up.

You will find you can ask top money for a clean tidy van.
You will also find that vans hold there money far better than cars!

I am considering leasing a van as mine has been out of action for nearly 3 weeks now, cam shaft broke and has caused all sorts of damage. It should be ready on Monday but is going to cost me nearly £2000!!!! If I had leased a van I wouldn't have to worry about expensive repairs ect.

i've got a new vivaro for £200 a month and after 4
years i then have to pay a final purchase fee to
keep the van, it means i'm not laying out so much
money for the 1st few years ect, just a thought

I will probably go down a similar route at my next van change.  I've just shelled out £1,200 on mine.  OK, so a chunk of it was the routine maintenance of a major service and timing belt change but I got caught out with the power steering pump and an engine mounting - plus a few other bits.  Perhaps I should have saved some money by steering clear of a main dealership but they did give me a lift home after I dropped it off (40+ mile round trip), delivered the van to my friend's place as I was on holiday (another 40+ mile round trip).
The final purchase fee on a lease is not really a problem as it is borrowable money anyway.  Just think of it as a loan extension.

What does that work out at per hour worked, so if you work 40hrs per week you need to pay back about £3 per hour for your van

I would recommend leasing.

1. I leased a toyota hiace £160.00 pm + fitted a tucker system £150 pm all + vat.
    at the end of the lease i purchased the van & as of today it has not cost  a penny & is 4 1/2 years old.

2.  Purchased a fiat scudo y plate 2001, it has had approx £3000 plus spent on it up to today.

3. I,ve purchased another scudo 54 plate which i will trade in or sell next year, before any major repairs are needed.

There is not much out there at the minute, but i use a company called acornfinance. Usually 3 up front then 35 rental. Just had a  focus 1.8 tdci sport for £160.00 pm. You just have to keep looking.
