Alternative wording
« on: July 29, 2007, 06:26:36 am »
I am sorting out my new add for the yellow pages and i need to change the wording
i was using the term reach and wash but as i dont have an ionics system obviously this is a no-no
So what can i replace it with?
i thought of just putting water fed pole w/c or pure water w/c or high level w/c any suggestions i think i will then get it put on the van also so i at least look proffesional ;)

Water Fed Pole System seems to be the industry standard phrase now and is actually far more descriptive to the average customer than reach and wash which is quite vague.

I thought it was just the Ionics logo that was copyrighted?
Is it really possible to copyright words in the English language, apart from names of course?

Ionics have recently been allowed by the UK IPO to register the phrase ' Reach and Wash' as a Trademark of their company. Generally ordinary words and phrases cannot be registered as a trademark until they have prove-ably been used by a company for a substantial period of time on an exclusive basis. As Ionics have been using this phrase without challenge for 10 years with regard to their specific systems they were allowed to register it.

2 or 3 years ago you could have used it on your van or advertising without any worry, but now if you are using this phrase with regard to a WFP systems then you are liable to litigation from Ionics, who have an active policy of legal action.

This phrase is only trademarked with regard to WFP systems though, so if you started a long reach system of washing dogs down you could still use the phrase 'Reach and Wash'.

I used to have Water Fed Pole System on my vans but to many people didn't know what it ment. They used to ask me what it ment but didn't ask me to clean their windows! As i now use "Ionics " logo and wording I find people understand it better & i get more calls now for cleaning,i couldn't tell you if thats from the sign writing or because i'm more est now. If i didn't have this system i would use the wording "Pure water"

Reach and Clean, Pure Water Washing I am sure there is a million ways to say it.

Clean and Rinse ?
Wash and Rinse ?

millions of ways.

I find that when I tell people that I use pure water, they havn't a clue what I'm on about, they seem to think that its clean tap water.  But if I tell them that I use Distilled Water, this gets a better response from them.

So you could use a phrase like "Pure Distilled Water Cleaning - Able to Reach and Wash those High and Awkward Windows"

I would like to see Ionics win a court case with that.

My wording is

High Reach 100% Pure Water Window Cleaning.

It sort of implies that they will get their windows cleaned with clean water instead of dirty bucket water which seems to be a big complaint from new customers who were used to trad methods.

I use
Pure water fed pole
and some people think i´m a plumber :-\ >:(

thinking of removing any reference to it to be honest and might just go with

Traditionally professional window cleaner. Equiped with modern tools.

or summit :-\

have noticed my basic leaflets do a lot better though , so might be worth considering not confusing them with science.

I'm sure if they want it they will ask if you have it, otherwise they might not think your a normal window cleaner :-\

I have NEVER had a domestic ask for it, and only once has anyone even been familiar with it and was happy they could have the villa done in the same way one of you guys properly clean their UK gaff.
