seen the cleanzine this week
« on: October 01, 2004, 09:51:32 am »
have you seen the cleanzine this week piece in there about uninsured window cleaners, it seems that the press is gradually picking up on uninsured window cleaner threat. western mail had a half page article on window cleaners not being able to get insurance. i was out canvassing last week when someone waved it about. told them we use waterfed poles. Oh yes she said that's the alternative I,ll use you. I think it is good news for those with pole systems and bad news for uninsured cowboys but we might have to star going out with our liability certificate in our bags. what do you think?

I have public liability, but I am never sure whether it is a legal requirement if you are self employed.
I do know that employers liability is a legal requirement and I am sure I have read on the boards that puplic liability isn't.
I know that you most certainly need to have it if you want commercial jobs as many companies want to see a copy of your policy. I have no doubt that more and more domestic accounts will also want the assurance that you have public liability.
But you won't need to carry your actual certificate, just keep a handful of copies in your glove compartment ;D
