Message from Andrew Walker . . .

Davie (and to all others subscribers of AWC mag via Educlean UK)

Normal service with respect to supply of AWC mag will resume just as soon as possible.  I sincerely apologise for the disruption.

The cause of disruption seems to have been that the annual block subscription I had with AWC terminated at about the same time that the magazine changed ownership. When Richard was owner, flow of the mag, and annual renewal of the arrangement, was smooth and seamless.
I dont know exactly why our supply of AWC mag to the UK was allowed to lapse under the new owner but that's what happened. Though expected, no notice to renew was received and initially I thought the delay in arrival, of the mag itself, was just one of those things that might happen from time to time.

As in this instance Richard put me in touch with the new owner, Norman Finegold, and i have since negotiated and agreed new terms with Norman.  This took some doing as Norman proposed to drasticly increase the price per copy of AWC ... understandable I think as we enjoyed the same price under Richard's ownership for quite a few years! Having said that, the proposed new charge, would have imposed a considerable intial cost on Educlean and was such that I considered terminating the arrangement and reimbursing present subscribers for the outstanding sums owed them. Anyway Norman came back with a revised offer. I have accepted Norman's revised offer. We have also agreed on other measures which will be helpful to UK AWC mag readers in the future.

Norman has other publishing interests and an established UK representative based in London. Unlike Rich, who personified window cleaning, neither party are from a window cleaning background. In addition to negotiating terms for the supply of AWC mag, Educlean has therefore spent time teaching them about our UK industry ... its history, economics, potential and such like.

Be reassured normal AWC mag delivery is on its way. I would be very grateful to moderators of other WC email forums reading this if they could pass this message on PLEASE! Also that if any AWC readers have questions or concerns, please do contact me ... my office land line: 0113 2570337 or email: cleaningwizard@edu-clean.freeserve.co.uk

Best wishes,

Andrew Walker

If you don't already subscribe to this publication, I can heartily recommend you to try and get your hands on a copy. It's USA based, as you might tell from the title, and it's handy to find out what will be happening over here a year or so in advance! As you'll see from Andrew's message, AWC is undergoing a change of ownership and at present the website is down, or you could investigate it on there.

If anyone fancies having a glance over a back-copy I'll see if I can bring one or two of my cherished mags down to Windex. As I'm getting bemused and befuddled these days, I'd appreciate someone who's interested giving me a gentle reminder a day or so before to jog my poor old addled brainbox!  ;)

Its a shame that AWC has passed to an organization that has no connection to window cleaning.  I suppose we will have to judge it by its results.

AMERICAN WINDOW CLEANER MAG

Athough its true that the new owner/publisher of AWC mag is not from a window cleaning background, he does have previouly established connections with publishing written material for the cleaning industry.  Further the editorial team has been enhanced to include leading figures from the international window/high level cleaning industry.  These include the former, and much respected former owner/publisher Richard Fabry! Those of us involved with the mag expect the combination of the new editorial team, with a quality publisher to greatly enhance the mag as it continues into the future.

Terry,

It wasn't an Englishman - sorry, Brit! - who invented the squeegee. You should always be looking ahead to see what else is coming on and might be able to help your business.

Confucious, he say . . . Man who stick head in sand, leave backside vulnerable!   ;)

PS
Good to meet you at Windex, and thanks for the Anglian shirt - much appreciated.
