the trouble with schools is they generally only have them done once a year and usually want them doing close to the end of the summer holidays so there is only so many you can fit in during this time period .
better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to speak out and remove any doubt

I also have a couple of these jobs and it`s down to the fact that i do the bursers house as to why i have them, they have them done 3 times a year which isn`t bad for that kind of work.I also get paid within about 2-3 weeks which is good for this type of work,i`ve heard it take up to 6mths and longer for some wcs to get paid in the past.

I do one every 3 months , payment  28 days later from County Council ( I try to do it when the little darlings are on holiday.)
They contacted me,they wanted a local window cleaner , they got my mumber from Yellow pages. ( that was when there was just me in it from Fleetwood ,Jase )  ;D

I would just phone the school and ask if they have a window cleaner , or could you speak to who deals with the window cleaning contract

I mail shotted all the local schools a couple of years ago had one responce straight away but they never followed though, then start of this year rang again and we agread on price,
So I think its a case of sowing the seeds every year and see what grows,

I now add to my leaflet that I am CRB (criminal record Burea checked) this gives them peace of mind where children are concerned (by the way I only have this check as I am a foster carer) but its nice to have in these days were people are protective of children.

Hi Alan

Just in middle of looking at more schools, but they dont like to pay, got about 10 to 12, all reasonable some good. But this years cleans have been awkward to get in they keep pushing back & cancelling now i,ve had them 2 years, just trying to sort letter informing them of frequency & to stick to it.

Hi Gary,
Apparently a lot of the bigger schools now have "bussiness managers" they did at the one I,ve got any way, What I did was to insist that because of health and safety I could only clean out side term periods, I also stated that I would not be tied to any type of fixed period contract but would fix the price for two years on condition that payment was within 60 days and cleaning periods and arranged dates were not messed with.(they tend to produce two year cash flow projections) so far so good, I work on the concept that I will bend to help but will not be messed arround, The other thing to remember is that H and S are big factors now and joe blogs who will no doubt charge less normally has no idea about this and normally has no insurance.
All customers are good when they pay, Ive just had another retailer hit the wall owing money thats 4 in the last twelve months

Alan

Just in the middle of all that, got crb, police, h&s courses, wfp training, safecontractor & ipaf. Just looking to expand now to recoup investment, we,ve also lost jobs recent around £700 per month which is a big hit, usual changing management companies, frequencies & sub contracting work where they lose contract. One thing we dont lose any on work performance.

Got 3 big contracts to look at next week, could do with them, probably lose out to ocs & initial again. Perhaps call in one day for coffee, but always seem to be running round like idiot, supposed to seen gazh20 recently for some brush,s to put on spare poles, still havent got round to it.

I have 2 primary schools which i clean three times a year nice little earner and prompt payers. I also have a CRB but are you aware that each place you work requires their own CRB to be done on you (if children are involved). Because since your last check you may have been convicted of an offence. I think its a good thing though as it helps keep our kids safer. So adding CRB checked to your leaflet is irrelevent really except for the fact that you are showing an awareness to the check.

Shaun crb would be a good one to get, it lasts 12 months if marcus is correct then it would cost a lot to upgrade regular & it takes 6 to 12 weeks to be done.

We also are police checked aswell, this helps & this is ongoing, so every time you turn up for work you are checked. Look into that with local police if its somethibg they do or they might push you to fair trades register or trading standard all are useful.
