what is the best type of soap?
« on: April 28, 2007, 06:49:39 pm »
i last bought a bottle of SYR Glimmer Clean and it was rubbish!
Im just about to buy some more soap, and wondered what soap you guys find the best.

Does it really pay to get the expensive stuff?

To be honest mate i don`t care what any other wcs say for trad work good old fairy liquid for me,over the years i`ve tried all of them and there all much the same.I don`t use to much of it in the water because it can get to sudsy if you know what i mean i just give it 1 good squeeze in a full bucket of water, some say to use the other products ie gg3 unger liquid if your WFP thats rubbish.Last week i didn`t have any fairy in the van i only had gg3 that i`ve had for ages laying in the back and for 1 the job took me twice as long i couldn`t see where i was blading in the sun due to no suds at all and my blade felt like i`d just dipped it in superglue.I use mainly WFP now so when i do have blade anything i just use good old fairy.

maybe its just because i like to have my applicator soapy. It just didnt feel like enough soap on it. I had to put in a lot of soap before i found it ok to use, but that way i was powering through the bottle, and it was empty in no time!

i go through it fairly fast, and do put more in than it says to, but at about£5.60 for five litres, its competitively priced even against fairy, and imo does a better job.
I find if you dont have the applicator to wet, you get a decent amount of suds!

Well I use Squeegie Off but I left my bottle somewhere on Friday so I will be going out tomorrow with Fairy. The secret is pure water, you only have to put in the tiniest drop of detergent to get a great result.

I've just changed from gg3 to glimmer gleam and I prefer glimmer gleam. Cheaper and a bit slippier. Fairy slips the best leaves more sticky (invisible) residue but if you're changing to wfp you want a low suds one.
It's a game of three halves!
