not as such, but I would have thought the folly of uninsured work was apparent...as in, potential damage to the property/fixtures and fittings etc...who can afford to pay a hefty claim out of their own wallet ?

Not only that, but if you were to injure someone and they sued you, you would be looking at a claim of about £100,000.

If you dont have that cash laying around, you're looking at Bankruptcy.  Not to mention the fact that the victim of your negligence wont be compensated, which is unfair.

If you're insured then they'll pay out.

The Fed asks for proof of my insurances, but I don't recall ever being "security checked" by them. Up here in Sunny Scotland window cleaners have to be licenced by the local council, which involves being vetted by the police to make sure that you are a fit and proper person, and able to be "let loose" on people's homes while they're not in, amongst other things.

And back to wayne99's original topic . . .
If you're a Fed member, you can get a book of canvassing leaflets which puts forward some disadvantages of using non-insured window cleaners. Only £1 per pad of 100 pages or £4 for five of them.
Snap 'em up - what a bargain!

the window fed application form asks if you have a criminal record ok so nobody checks out the answer but you don,t have one do you??? the rest is called marketing and it ain,t dishonest if your telling the truth.

P.S. tried the window fed leaflets put a couple of thousand out but they don,t seem to make an impact in black and white and i have had better results with a full colour one but it does cost a lot more
