About 6-7 cm.  Basically, push it in until it fits snugly.

Thanks I had a small split in the end that was growing so I have glued in a short length of plastic tubing to stop it spreading. I wondered if the tube was under stress by not being in far enough but it's in about 6 cm. Is everything back to normal in the office now? only I have put in another order and was wondering about a delivery date and when my account will be depleted. all the best.
