Best Squeegee ?
« on: March 21, 2007, 07:19:06 pm »
OK, I thought I'd start up a thread & ask for the pros opinions on the best squeegee & hints & tips to go along with it.......

What do you recommend, pulex, unger or ettore ? pulex seem to be the cheapest, followed by unger & ettore seems most expensive, though not by much.

I have only ever used unger with soft rubber. I've heard (from a catalogue) the hard rubber is for warm weather with smooth glass, is this true or what?

I've also never used the end clips on a squeegee, they look like they would work really well, do they? Does it cut down on detailing much?

C'mon, everyone pitch in, the more opinions the better   ;D

my weapon is a brass unger speedy clip in thing with soft rubber ( prefer the ones with out the caulk on it )
cant do hard rubber i havnt got the wrist action (no jokes please )
have dog eared one of my channels but the clips are good to
im still learning and once or twice i think i have made more hard work for myself by putting to much water on the window
better to risk my neck for myself than break my back for some one else !!

I use unger with soft rubber and yes sometimes I put too much water on the window and sometimes not enough.

I have tried hard rubber, but some how just cannot get on with it.

The best squeegee in my opinion is any length channel fitted with a Pulex rubber and an Unger swivel lock handle,
those swivel lock handles are brilliant  ;D,

I`m using Pulex soft cos I`ve still loads left but tried Ettore recently and found they glide better. So may get them next.

I think a 10" channel is the best all rounder, on houses anyway. But I`m unusual  :P and use a 10" applicator but it might stop you putting too much water on the window.

Hard rubber (lasts longer), works best on shop windows (blading down in a straight line & overlapping). Soft rubber (quick wearing on corners) for domestic window cleaning with all the twisting movements involved.

Unger ergotech squeegee with Pulex hard rubber. Dog ear it if the channel is 14" or less.

Hi, I use a unger quick release handle and an ettore 12" channel with ettore or pulex rubber! That's the best combo in my opinion!  ;)

Thanks, lots of replies & opinions, exactly what I wanted  :)

Dog-earing the channels makes sense, I'll have to try it.

Unger, dog eared and Unger soft rubbers with either Ettore Squeegie Off or Unger GG4/3.

Also, new scrims are the pits so old ones are best but I replace microfibre cloths every 3 months.

Cheers

James, I always use Unger Ergotec with Pulex hard rubber. Best combination in my opinion. The Ergotec is light - even at full stretch two fingers can easily operate it effectively.

14" Unger Monsoon sleeve, Glimmer, 12" Unger Ergotec handle and channel, Unger soft rubbers.

Can't get on with Pulex rubbers.

Ettore master are good, but expensive in comparison

Having a choice is great isn't it!
