GE Merlin problems
« on: March 04, 2007, 02:17:03 pm »
hi i have a merlin 300g wich was working fine untill recently so i changed the first filter. but that has not had any effect. it was filling my 1000ltr ibc in about 12 hours but now it is taking more than 24 hours .the water pressure is the same.do you think it could be the carbon filters that need changing.and do you know where the cheapest place is thanks

Did you buy a genuine merlin prefilter?

If its the older 300gpd then why was it only taking 12 hrs to fill a 1000ltr IBC?  300gpd = 1134ltrs per day.

I'd say you're doing well to fill 1000ltrs in 24hrs with it.  You sure it isn't a 720gpd model?

clean team - thats the 720GPD system.

720GPD = 2721 ltrs (US gallons)

However this is rated at 80psi, inlet temperature 20c etc - best possible conditions.  It should be filling your tank quicker than what it is doing so it most likely needs to be backflushed, the easiest way to do this is to use the backflush kit but failing that you can take some 6mm John Guest pipe, push it into your microbore and turn the pump on to flush the system out.  You need to close off the product pipe and the inlet  in order to force all the pure water through the waste line.

If you need pics let me know.

I'm protectacoting a couple of vans here - high as a kite. :D
