Just drill four holes through the base of the hose reel, 2 in each side and use two bolts to secure to the van...as solid as a rock ;)

I've considered bolting my reel down but I reckon I would need some kind of swivel plate so that the reel has some chance of facing the right direction. It would certainly save some effort of lifting the reel back into the van on every house. I think I would like the option of removing it so that I can still work with the van doors locked.

Why not send the hose thogh the van floor then you could still lock the doors whilst working!
