 how do you guys look afer your squeegee at the end of the day ? do you take it indoors  ,dry it ,dismantle it ? on of my squeegess looking a bit worse for wear .... how many should i own ? i got a couple of cheap ones and one bona fide daddy of squeegees  ....

Most trad w/cs use a 'boab', and that's where the squeegee stays! I dont care how cold it is, I do not bring it indoors

I only use 1 squeegee, I know that some guys use a couple of sizes, personal choice I suppose.

Get a 10', 14' and 18' one, you will be using the 10' the most on Domestic accounts.

Just leave it in the van, no problem with that, I just try the blade, and that's it.

guess im a glutton for punishment but im walking all the way (to start with ) theres plenty oh houses within walking distance
anyway what about rust and rotting rubber !!!

Lucy , either brass or stainless steel won't rust and you should be changing your rubber well before it rots

I have about at least 1/2 a dozen squeegies probably more as some i don't like.

I like the brass squeegies.
My maintainence for squeegies go as follows.
Change rubber when worn.
Change channel if it gets bent (very rare though).

And thats it.

thanks .. i think i pamper me squeegees a bit to much gonna get some more though.....i only asked the question because i only work sat and sun ...so all week there resting themselfs......... hopefully when customer base is bigger and kids go to school i can go full time in the week

You will know when the rubber needs changing, but don't forget to turn it round and use the other edge first.

Gosh, was it strip poker? I wish I had been playing!

Scrim is what I could not leave behind, my squeegee technique isn’t as good as it should be, so I use my scrim to polish off any slight squeegee marks etc. I must be doing something right as today I received a letter from a customer thanking me for an excellent job.

Where I am falling down is on my paper work, book keeping, I just cannot seem to get this in any sort of order. To be honest it’s one big mess, bits of paper with notes on.

 i think i am learning alot of this site .but some stuff you just need to be out there ..
yesterday as the day and my sqeegee wore on ,,i was having to do more and more detailing .... so what i did was ...pop home at luchtime and put my scim in the tumble for ten mins ... it was fantastic ....anyway ...all i had done up till yesterday was fairly new houses .. but one house had like green algee stuff ....what a sod it was to got off ....need to geta scrubber ..or something

This is the way I do it, (window cleaning)

I wear a belt with two pockets; my right pocket holds all the wet stuff, t-bar, squeegee, old towel type rag. My left is the dry side, scrim, scraper, etc.

I keep any old towels and cut them up and have a box full in the boot of my car, scrim seems expensive to me, so I intend on make each piece I buy last.

I use the old towelling to wipe my squeegee dry and for detailing, I only use my scrim to polish the glass and remove any squeegee marks.


My scrim stays dry all day long.

looks like i am going to have to buy a belt  good advice for the towelling though ...what about algee ?

I use a soft hand brush, scrub over the window, then clean in the usual way.
