Just wondering how many window cleaners have water meters and if so what impact this makes on your bottom line?

I don't have one.

But I worked out the calculations based on a friends bill who have a meter and I reckon it would cost me approx £120 p.a. if I was on a meter.

Others who are on a meter should be able to give you more accurate info.

We are on a meter. Since my last bill I have used 100,000 litres. At the most it is £2.00 cost per cube. So £200.00 for all the cleaning.

The cost of water is almost insignificant on the return profit.

I can give you a fairly accurate figure for my area which is Yorkshire.
My monthly direct debit went from £22  to  £69  which it has settled at.
I use approx 400ltr per day 4 days a week.
So if you work out what you use you should get a rough idea.

Not if Petski2 post is anything to go by, an increase of £47 a month is anything but insignificant

Definitely!

It will depend on how efficient your filter system is.

i.e. filtered water / waste ratio etc. and how much you filter per day etc.

My calculation was based on the following:-

cost £1.063/ m3               
Standing Charge   £0.0657 / day

300 litres   x 5 days x 48 weeks =          

0.3x5x48x£1.063=£76.54 p.a   for good water

                     £44.46 for waste water

I did forget to add the standing charge

                     £23.98 for standing charge

      Revised Total of £144.98 pa

quite a bit of difference in meter cost amounts - and majority of people without meters (although a small vote) - if you use wfp does the make of system make a big difference to useage of water

£69.00 per 22 working days = just over £3.13 per day. What sort of income is £3.00 of water costs per day bringing in because lets face it no one is going to be specific but we are all doing ok and could easily afford that.

Even if you are a £3.00 per house merchant your first house will cover it!!!!!!

If you keep breaking down the cost of anything into days/hours it seems cheap but they all add up significantly over the year.
My calculation was purely on the basis that having a water meter seems to greatly increase your water costs   not that the cost of water itself was reasonable or not.
I'm in the Dudley area.
