Blotchy glass marks
« on: January 21, 2007, 09:42:31 am »
Decided to do my own windows yesterday (WFP) as it was a calm morning and the sun was out, had to go out before they dried so didn't get to see them dry  as I didn't get back till dark, heavyish wind and rain around 10pm onwards.
Opened the curtains this morning to find the sun streaming in showing blotchy marks and pinhead spots covering virtually the whole glass, now I know the low sun picks up every mark but this looked bad, I'm assuming this was the mix of wind and rain that came down that evening, I'm just hoping any customers of mine are not getting this problem, no complaints yet anyway. It just looks poor :-\
 Thoughts?

Hi John.

was this the first clean with wfp at home. if it was did u give the frames and glass a good scrub and rinse.

if it is i usually give the frames 2 good cleans and then clean as normal. first cleans are a right pain and worth spending the extra time getting them right.

first cleans are all about loads of scrubbing and extra rinsing.

i did 10 new houses on thursday all 4bedroom homes, normally i would get this done on normal cleans in about 3-4hours but it took me all day but they came up mint.

hope this helps.

Macc, no they have been done numerous times and usually come up excellent, only difference was the combined wind/rain on the evening as just rain hasn't  affected them in the past. It's just a surprise how blotchy they are added with the pinhead spots, I'd hate to think any customers have the same so soon after a clean.
I'll give them a once over again now and see what happens.

I noticed the same at a pub I clean.  Did the outsides on Wednesday but had to go back and do the insides on Saturday.  Now with the storms and wind we had on Thursday every window looked terrible.  Water marks all over them.  The landlord was cool though and understood the reasoning.
Veni, vidi, vino, splatus.
