I'm wondering whether or not to voluntarily go VAT registered. :-/

I'm not turning over £58,000 a year at the minute, but if I win any more large contracts I probably will soon.

I'm phasing out domestic customers (only have 3 days domestic a month)

Is it worth volunteering for the image aspect?  
Are commercial clients likely to take you more seriously if you are VAT registered?

The other thing is, I was thinking of buying or contract hiring a van and buying a pole system.

I would save a fair bit of VAT me thinks.

What advice would you give me?

If your customers can get it back do it, you will save on most everything you buy for your business.

Look at last months receipts. Get the total, then times by 7 divide by 47 and this is the amount you would have saved that month.

I'm sure there was mention of Tax Inspectors. Just because VAT wasn't around, doesn't mean to say we weren't still being clobbered for tax - even back then!
