Leaflets
« on: May 05, 2007, 03:14:45 am »
Hi, Just need some opinions please.

I'm looking at delivering some leaflets and if I don't do it myself, some companies can charge anything up to £55 per 1,000 to leaflet drop. The advantage is they are delivered on their own. However I can get them delivered in my local paper for £13 per 1,000 but they will be with 3 or 4 other leaflets.

In your opinion which would give me a better response?
i.e. 5,000 delivered on their own, or for the same price...20,000 delivered in a free paper with other leaflets.?

I know that some people don't even read or open their free papers, but then again there are some that do.

What would you go with?

Brian.

I have tried them in papers several times, and every time I got a small responce. in my experiance the best method is take 50 with you every day and post them out every day your self. phil

I agrre with Phil,

I let a friend of ours 2 years ago deliver leaflets around where I was working. I highlighted every job I got from this as I promised him £10 PER JOB.
Next year he got a proper job so I used a pro company @ £25 per 1000. Gave them 6000 to deliver solo, got 1 or 2 jobs but more on one particular estate, where the owner lived.
Anyway this year we were talking in the family about what to do this year so my siter in law added up the jobs from friends money He had had £180 so thats 18 jobs he got me but only delivered about 2000 leaflets MAX.
The pro leaflets (6000) got me aprox 12 jobs, all over the place.
We suspect the reason for this is our friend was delivering where I was working so the properties were suitable, the pro people just shuv em through any old door
I'm always in the poo, it's just the depth that varies

Hi

I've done this both ways and I agree with the other posts. Pro companies just deliver them through any old door and the return rate is likely to be less than if you deliver them personally in the areas you want. I now employ the girl who delivers our local free paper. I waited in on a Wednesday evening purposely waiting to catch her and asked her if she was interested. She delivers them for £15 per 1000 versus £28 per 1000 if I did it through the local paper itself and £25 through a pro delivery company. Employing this girl means I can hand pick the streets and even the houses to which they are delivered and she's happy to be earning some more money so we're both happy with the arrangement. If you can't get someone to deliver them then do as one of the other posts says and post them yourself in lots of 50 or so and this should generate a better response.

Thanks guys (and gals). I may eventually try all ways to find out which best works in my area, but for now I'll do them myself as you advise.

It's just getting motivated to go and do it.

Thanks.
