took a sore one today
« on: December 19, 2006, 07:19:59 pm »
cleaning away with i-pod on singing my heart out when my brother (Who is only helping out this week) decides to go on the flat roof above me ..
he extends the ladders , then proceeds to climb up , gets almost on the roof when the ladder slides out ...
as i saw him move i look up to recieve a double ladder and a 14 stone man land on my head .
he rode the slide out then bounced off me then landed perfectly on his feet ..
while im writhering about on the floor clutching my head ...
the ladder scraped all down one side from shoulder to hand and its bloody agony .. also got a massive lump on my head ...

and what was the first thing i told him ...   its icy so dont do ups without someone footing the ladder .....

needless to say hes now not working the rest of the week
and ive got a thumping headache
still ... couldve been worse  >:(

Can I say you have been incredibly lucky? Not to mention your brother.  :o

Saw a chap up a  2 section ladder today trying to drill a hole in his wall.  His mate was footing him about 2 rungs below him.  I kid you not.
Not only would they both risk broken bones when the ladder slips away but one of the lucky sods would have got a hammer drill land on them too.

insane, but I'm not going to talk.  I used to clean a Victorian 3 storey trad- top windows were all done by climbing ladder to top, clamber onto ledge, walk along to flat roof, from there I could pull myself up to the top ledge and walk along it cleaning the windows on the way round.  Bear in mind that the ladders were triple extension grade 1's, 11m extended.  I was another 8 ft or so above them walking along this ledge about 2ft wide and over 100yrs old with nothing but air below it!! (Up about 40ft) :o :o.  Thing is, I'm not a flyweight either (16stone)

Chancers, huh, tut tut.

Also - go to the doc's anyway - heads and necks are funny things and bad damage can surface days or months afterwards.
It's a game of three halves!

Please do go the docs.
Check that bump out, don't want to scare you, but had a friend who bump her head and suffered with headache.
Now she is in a wheel chair learning to talk and walk again.
take time off for you health.
