Whats the answer for 2nd storey tradtional cleans?
« on: January 03, 2007, 03:01:35 pm »
Is the pro curve pole the answer for reaching awkward 2nd storey windows, where the ladders just wont reach?
Ive tried to search this site, but posts on this were quite old, and was wondering if this should be a piece of kit that I need to get?- Or if anyone is using it, tips would be great- and if not how else do you reach those windows-is there another way apart from wfp?
I will be getting all my kit in the next week or two, but worried about the awkward windows over porches etc that I cant reach.
The video on it looks great but i can imagine its hard to master!
Cant afford to go into wfp just yet, but dont want to turn down work either! I have to do traditional for the time being, but worried I may be making a mess of windows that I cant reach properly.
Any tips or advice on doing them would be great!

When i was traditional if i could not reach the window they did not get done.
And never ever did one's over conservatories when traditional
I have used an unger pole with a backflip and detail of with a scrim in a fixiclamp.
But this was rare i used it.

Just price up for what you can reach and tell the customer if there any you can't get most will understand.
If not there's always another customer soon behind you will be able to do.

If your not well practised in the use of an extension pole then I dont think its the answer to doing second storey domestic windows as its very difficult to do an adequete job until you have spent a lot of time at it
It would be best to start on first floor commercial windows as these generally have a more protruded edge so you can use it as a guide for the edge of the squeegee and as you become more proficient then move up to second floor and so forth
Thepro-curve from what ive heard is even harder to get on with but once mastered can be a useful tool
When doing pole work we usually use an angled squeegee and applicator or a ledger depending on the depth of the sill and then just wrap a piece of chamois around the tip of the pole for detailing

make sure you get a ladder mate or stopper. You can reach windows above porches by going above the window with your ladder but anything to dodgy just leave aint worth the risk. £500 sounds about right most important is decent ladders!!!!!!!!! poles take pratice but can work

i know a fella that bought the pro curve set up and tried it out quite a lot and gave up. the video makes it look too easy, from what he said its damn near impossible.

Everyday someone points something out to me that really helps me during my starting up.  Marshy asks a lot of the questions I should ask.  This was one of them.

Great answer, thanks!

PS, have really looked into those Ladder M8rix Industrial units.  They look amazing, they claim not one fall so far.  I guess everyone who bought one is happy.
