Magnifying glass
« on: December 16, 2006, 08:50:17 pm »
If anyone is looking for a magnifying glass for examining carpet fibres then Lidl have a Bresser one as one of their weekly specials.

I have just bought one and it has a proper glass lens and is made from heavy aluminium. It also comes with built in LED illumnation and comes with a padded carry case, batteries and lens cloth. It also comes with a 5 year guarantee.

At £3.99 it's a bargain!

On various training courses they recommend looking at a dirty fibre under a magnifying glass to see how far the dirt has penetrated into the carpet.

The deeper the dirt the more difficult it is to clean. If it's gone as far as the backing then that poses further problems.

Also, if you "audit" a carpet properly in front of a customer then you can charge more money!

Er ... It's only 2.5 times magnification ::)

That's more than sufficient for seeing how dirty a fibre is!
