Do you have to use a stainless steel sprayer ie: A Gloria etc,
to spray carpet protector? or could i use a 'Run Of The Mill' plastic sprayer instead.
If I do need the latter, then which one is the best allround value for money in your opinion

For protector application I use a 500ml or 1000ml plastic spray bottle.This is because I use a electric sprayer and I over apply if I use it.I can conrol it better with a hand sprayer.

S/S Gloria the best really, its capable of being pumped to a higher psi, i dont think you'll be able to get an even coat with a plastic one, or not as even, stainless one is far superior, thats what i use and would reccommend,

Used to have a couple of Glorias but now use a electric in stead as it is easier and quicker with more of an even coverage as it does not lose pressure like the pump ups.
My personal view is that with either pump up or electric I still find that I over apply the protector especially on suites and thats why I prefere the hand trigger sprays for appling protector.Takes a bit longer but I get more of an even coverage.

i dont find i over apply, though i would say you need to keep the lance moving briskly.

Fletch you can use either.Its up to you.I use a smaller hand trigger type for applying protector ( with a good fine mist nozzle) for the reasons stated below

For applying most protectors to carpet, the requirements are VERY specific.
50 psi
8004 spray tip
a measured amount on a measured area of carpet.
A sprayer with Viton seals.
and typically, the carpet fibres should be pre-treated with a suitable acidic rinse (check manufacturers instructions)

To fall outside this specification will compromise the application and hence performance of the product.

The relevant Gloria plastic and stainless steel sprayers are equally capable of completing this role. For myself, I will use my 5 litre Gloria unless it's a particularly large job when I'll use my 10 litre S/S version.
