From what i can see that is the problem Steve, emails phone calls etc & no responce.

I can see his frustration & i would feel the same way. I cant see what the problem is.

I will think twice about using them now & had contacted them with the possability of using their services. Thanks for the warning.

ditto

i myself was thinking about using canvassers as i may in the future put another van on the road.
i think if i do the above the best thing i can do is canvass myself but it's finding the time

Dont be put off by one instance that you have seen on a forum.

I have used canvassers a lot building both domestic and commercial work. Just make sure you have both agreed terms etc  EG pricing, type of work and any guarantees and get them down in writing. This way both parties are protected from what is happening here.

I think thats the best reply i've read, if you don't want the hassle of canvassing and you can budget for it go for it, cause its saved me a lot of time and headache that i don't have to do it myself.  so far its all good

This is one of the problems with forums such as this one.

It gives people an outlet to air grievances in public which can adversely affect the reputation of people or organisations which if not based on fact which can be proven can result in heavy legal action being taken against the author, moderators of the forum, site owners and even the ISP.

I've seen instances on here which if had been directed at me or my company I would have definately taken legal advice about on the grounds of defamation.

I can also understand that Benny may feel frustrated by lack of communication but to use the forum to state financial matters IE he is owed by a company or individual in his opinion could open up all sorts of cans of worms.

Like Steve Aqua says the forum is being used as judge and jury here whether intentional or not. If I was owed £700 I would take normal routes to recover it. I do this all the time in business. It comes with the territory.

There have been times in my business career when I had to avoid calls from people I owed money to because the people who owed me money were slow in paying.  How many here can say the same? Quite a few I would think.
Does this make me dishonourable or deserving a public hanging?  I dont think so as I always resolved the issues through the correct channels.

Also I see that no contract was signed. I hate to say this Benny but if you do lose out you should treat this as a lesson in business and put it down to experience.

Rich.

I believe the reason for not getting in the care, so to speak is that they are based over a 100 miles away, most people would try the most obvious method, ie.  phone calls, emails etc.....

Agreed, no contract leaves you open to abuse, which in my eyes is even more reason to post on here, how would you like to make a similar mistake to be told by a fellow member, oh yeah, it happened to me, at least you would have thought it would have been nice to know??

Paul actively promotes his services and I am sure there is a perfectly reasonable reason why he has not contacted Benny, despite having been on the forum since the original post?

Like I have said before, if this gets too personal I will lock or delete it, however, as far as I can see there is nothing wrong with what is written so far?

Trevor in all fairness to you I am mainly referring to the thread as it was before it got edited.

To say that no contract leaves you open to abuse I also agree with you but I have to disagree that it is grounds to post the problems caused by the lack of one on here. A contract is a document designed to protect all parties involved and prevent this sort of situation which is in all probability a tale of two sides.

There may be feelings running high on both sides here and Paul Bass may feel that it is not appropriate for him to respond through the forum. Perhaps even on the grounds that he is considering taking legal action hence his logging on with no reply as yet.

If you think I am over dramatising the defamation issue here is food for thought.

Some time ago I was in a similar situation to Benny although the sum was much larger. I was thoroughly aggrieved and felt that right was on my side. I made a statement about the company involved along the same lines as this one on the internet. Not too long afterwards I had to settle out of court on my solicitors advice  :(    It was £1000,s so I learned that right isnt always might no matter how frustrated or put out I feel about something.

This brings me on to one of your pet things trevor.  PROFILES.  Fill them in so that emails can be sent then say if you are considering using a company you are contactable.  If you understand what I mean.

Rich.

At the same time if this forum is convenient for for his advertising, where no doubt he has made a lot of money,

Then i see no reason why it cant be used to answer peoples queries regarding the same.

There did not seem to be a problem fighting his cause to gain work,

Although contact direct is the way to go.

Its amazing isnt it!

I go away for 2 weeks holiday in Corfu and come back to this mudslinging session!

Bennymon will be sorted out like all the windowcleaners have been sorted out, and i have talked with him tonight.

I feel i must reiterate the point that i travel the country building rounds, in areas of bad reception for mobile phones and obviously cannot look at a computer on a daily basis.

We have plenty of w/c that continually use doorknockers service, and they frequently re use our service as and when they require us.

Yes Tosh i did get back on the 19th, but in the meantime we have been very busy, and for whatever reason, no messages from bennymom or calls from bennymon have been received by myself.

Ive asked him if he has used the correct e-mail, which he assures me he has, so will try again at a particular time tommorrow to see if there are any problems there.

Paul,

No worries, mate.

I always blame either Wor Lass or my answer phone when I can't be bothered to return calls and stuff.

It's SOPs!

Regards,

Tosh.

No worries back Tosh

It is quite clear that many on here use the forum to have a good back biting session, which is all part and parcel of a healthy forum i suppose?!

I try to steer clear of it, however its different when it comes down to slander, then there is a need to defend your corner.

Paul,

The crime of 'slander' is impossible to do on an internet forum.

How's Bennyon; is he a happy chappie?

Anyway, I know you're a good guy; you always usually get a good rep on this forum; apart from not returning calls; but I'm just as bad.

I know the feeling, mate, honest.  You get in from work knackered, then the wife and kids take over; you've a load of messages waiting for you; but you put it off till the next day; and the next day.

I blame it on Wor Lass or say, 'sorry, I couldn't understand you, everyone sounds like a Darlek on my answerphone!'.

It will all be sorted when Del resends his e-mail, we tracked back and found an e-mail from him, but there was no content to it.

He might have forgot to add an attachment, i,ve sent him the e-mail back as it came through to me.
