new truckmount
« on: October 28, 2006, 06:15:14 pm »
Hi all,

have finally taken the plunge and splashed out on a new vivaro van and truckmount ( pro mount 18 form woodbridge) which i'm very pleased with.

After being a skeptic about the value of a truckmount for about ten years, i must say i'm more than impressed with the power and effectiveness of the machine and only wished i'd done it earlier.

One thing i want to know is, does the machine need to be run at full throttle and full temperature when cleaning carpets, (i've read the manual which says it does!) - but seems a bit overkill to me?

Plus i seemed to be getting through fule like no tommorow! :o

One other problem i've come across is i'm finding it difficult in not overwetting upholstery when cleaning even with it turned right down, any tips?

I have the handtool supplied by woodbridge.!

regards
steve

Full throttle, yes, temperature, depends on what chemical you're using as some don't work at too high a temperature, have you tried a cfr hand tool????  Used many prochem T/M's over the years with a cfr and had great results!!! If you want to use high temperatures try chemspecs high heat or something else that works at high temperature

full throttle = more vacuum :) :) which is always a good thing.

most carpets will take high temps so why not go overkill, its better  than the alternative.

buy a cfr or drimaster.

I make about a grand for £20 of fuel so why worry about fuel cost :D :D

Yes.

but If I had to make up a stock solution I think I'd go with a liquid detergent.

I have got the pro mount 20.

I only run on full throttle on long hose runs, or if I am cleaning a belgium wilton and want it INSTANTLY DRY !  :o

Most times I run it at 2500rpm for carpets and 2300rpm for suites.

Full throttle is ( I think) 3200rpm).

It makes a big difference to the fuel economy and the noise level !

If you havent got a rev counter they are about £60 from woodbridge and are easy to fit yourself, no tools required.

Check with woodbridge about the revs for your particular machine, just to be sure.

But I was told by woodbridge to run my machine at these revs, and Dave Ingram confirmed that he does the same.

I use a CFR upholstery tool. I am still playing around with different jets and psi, but at the moment I find that the 01 jet, running with 400psi, seems to give the best combination of good rinsing action and reasonable drying times.

I leave it on full temp All of the time. On upholstery the CFR 01 jet seems to keep the temp at hot, rather than RED hot.

One other point, using a glide on your wand makes one hell of a difference to the drying times  ;D

Belgium Wiltons .......PAHH !..... bring them on . :D NO PROBLEM  ;)

Chris

ps you are better off with liquids than powders, less chance of clogging filters.

I run mine around at about halfway, but i have the 25 so i dont know on your model
As for the temp i was a bit worried at first but am now running it up full

As iv only just changed over to truckmount myself im allso debating on what chems to use, im using liquid ultimate master and prochem odour fresh as a rinse.

Did most of you guys swich to a stronger pre-spray once you got your t/m's? as the way im thinking is iv got more flushing and extraction going on so would a high ph pre=spray really hurt?

ps, done three days proper work with my t/m now as a had a few problems with it to start with
and the first day was my highest earning day ever, and the next two i was finished by around 2.30 wich is unusual for me as im normally working to around 5.

So, so far so good, and its nowere near as hard work as it is with the porty.

High PH could get you into trouble, one mistake and your Knackered !

But, yes .

I now use chemspec liquid High heat to rinse ( stock solution). PH 4.

To pre spray I use either ......Blitz ( hydramaster ) PH 12 on the bad stuff

Microsplitters / spitfire advance on wool

Microsplitters on upholstery.

The Blitz is amazing stuff, strips the dirt straight off  :o

I hope that the acid rinse with Liquid high heat neutralises and removes residue ?  :-\

Picture is of a carpet cleaned with Blitz and liquid high heat last Thursday

thanks for the replys guys,

I'm still finding my feet with the t/m and have to say the operation is alot different to a porty.

I've noticed a massive difference in time spent on the job, so much quicker :o

Can't get used to filling the petrol tank all the time tho, must be 10 years of using a porty ::)

p.s.  does using a smaller guage whip hose on the end affect the efficiency in any way??

Im using 25foot of inch and a half vacuum hose on the end with no problems, probably loose a bit but so what, iv still got more suction at 175foot than i had at 50 and im only running my machine at half revs.

Chris, wouldnt you be tempted to use the blitz or simular on a day to day bassis?

Iv been using chemspec enz-all for the last week or so with great results but am debating if its suitable on wool ect as its a high ph, but as i say we are rinsing a lot more now surely?

NO , DONT DO IT !

You will be OK on wool a lot of the time.

But then one day it will all go horribly wrong  :o

Your insurance will probably refuse to pay out ( " What, you used High PH on wool " ?) and it will cost you £££££££££

Colour run, browning, fibre damage, its all waiting for you down that route !

Could something like browning really happen in the 10minutes the pre-spray is left down? im sure it would cause problems if we left the carpet to high, but if we are rinsing so well.

Anyway, this leads me to another question as im experimenting with pre-sprays at the moment
what is the strongest pre-spray most of us would be comfatable using on wool and synthetics on a day to day basis doing residential work? and obviously flushing with a t/m

at the minute on the van i have

Alltec, citrus pre-spray
Alltec, traffic lane de-greaser

Prochem, Ultrapac

Craftex, multisolv
Craftex, champion

Chemspec, enz-all

But open to suggestions of a good strong all-rounder

I mostly use prochem power burst as a prespay and have continued with the t/m and using prespray gold for wool, i think these do for most things and don't see the point of having too many different solutions on board.

prochem seem to be a bit more expensive but do the job well,  i switched to graftex for a while and started getting complaints from customers that it was leaving a powdery finish when it had oversprayed onto furniture etc.

So back to prochem! ::)

Have used ultimate master from alltec, seemed just the same as the dry blend from prochem.

I think surely with a t/m you don't need a stronger prespray as the extra power and heat will do a great deal of the work.
