Roof ANCHOR Points With Wire
« on: October 31, 2006, 06:32:57 am »
Hi All

Looking to clean gutter on roof, but require to go to edge, who would be able to give relevant advice about safety.

There is a wire system but only on apex so would need to <belay> if thats correct to edge of wire is this possible within h&s.

Hi Gary,

From what you have posted I think what your saying is you are walking on the roof and have to walk to the very edge to lean over and clean the guttering?

If this si correct you must use a full Fall Arrest Harness and have relevant maintainance certificates from the building inspector to ensure the wired access is fully maintained and in good working order. You will also need to contact your Insurance company to make certain you cover yourself on this project.

On our insurance and in accordance with H&S we can only run a maximum of 5 meters from our base point and only operate a 1.5m drop arrest.

Hope this helps

Trev,

Thanks for the reply

When you say base point with insurance is 7m is that the normal or just with insurance.

I would say the length is 10m took tape to measure today, but, strugling with weather & did not get round to it.

Using roof anchor & 7m g stop tomorrow, but, would be quicker to use other system of wire.

Thanks

Gary.
